Privacy Policy
How we protect your privacy
Last updated: July 5, 2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to InkFolio ("we", "our", or "us"). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it through our compliance with this policy. InkFolio is built with a local-first philosophy, meaning your private reading materials stay entirely under your control by default.
2. Local-First Data
InkFolio is designed as a local-first application. When you upload PDF or EPUB files to read, these files are processed and stored locally on your device (within your browser's local storage or IndexedDB). We do not upload, read, or have access to the raw contents of your private books.
3. Information We Collect
- Account Information: If you create an account or request beta access, we collect your name and email address.
- Synced Metadata: If you choose to use cloud sync features, we may securely store reading metadata (such as book titles, timestamps, and reading progress markers) to sync across your devices.
- Usage Data & Analytics: We automatically collect standard diagnostic data (such as IP addresses, browser types, and usage patterns) to help us understand how the app is used and to fix bugs.
4. Third-Party Services
We do not sell your personal data. We use trusted third-party service providers to help run our infrastructure, including secure database hosting, email delivery, and anonymous product analytics. These partners are strictly bound to protect your data and only use it to provide services to us.
5. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information. However, no electronic transmission over the internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, so we cannot promise or guarantee that hackers, cybercriminals, or other unauthorized third parties will not be able to defeat our security.
6. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. You can clear your local browser storage at any time to remove your local library. If you have an account and wish to delete your data from our servers, please contact us.
